# Files

> Browse, preview, download, and free project file storage used by chat and workflows.

**Files** is the project’s file library: documents, images, and other blobs agents and chats can use. Open [Files](https://flowra.dev/dashboard/files).

There is **no upload button** on this page. Upload from **chat or workflows** (empty-state CTA: **Open chat to upload**).

## Scope

| Aspect | Behavior |

| Library listing | Shared for the **whole project** (page help: not one private silo per end user) |
| Top bar **End user** | Still matters for **storage breakdown** and **cleanup** (oldest files for this end user in this project) |
| Agents | Reference uploads in the **current conversation** / file tools — Files are **not** ticked under agent **Data access** like Knowledge/Tables |

Confirm the right [project](/product/projects-and-keys) and [end user](/product/external-users) when storage numbers look wrong.

## List

### Filters and storage

* Search by name
* **Format** filter (All, common types, plus formats present in the project)
* **Storage** panel: usage bar with legend for **All projects** / **This project** / **This end user**
* Actions such as **Clean up old files** / **Get more storage**
* Prune dialog **Free up storage** — removes this end user’s oldest files in the current project first

Bulk bar: selection count · Clear · **Delete selected**. Confirm single or bulk delete. Image preview opens in a dialog.

### Empty state

**No files yet** — upload from chat or workflows → **Open chat to upload**.

## Tips

* Delete obsolete files to free quota and reduce clutter.
* Prefer Knowledge collections for long-term RAG over dumping many large docs only as raw files.
* Storage quotas follow your plan; free up space with cleanup or upgrade from [Pricing](https://flowra.dev/dashboard/pricing) when the bar is full.
* Upload from your backend with the [Files](/guides/files) API (`files.upload` in the SDK). Native tools: [Native tools: File](/guides/native-tools/file).
